Vulcan farewell this weekend 10/11 Oct 'Going ahead!'
The world's last remaining flying Vulcan bomber is to make its final appearance in the skies with a two day farewell tour in October.

The iconic aircraft, based at Doncaster's Robin Hood Airport is due to finally bow out with a spectacular nationwide sortie on October 10-11.

But fans of XH558 are being warned to stay away from the airport to catch a glimpse of the plane over crowd safety fears.

Owners Vulcan To The Sky Trust said: "A celebratory national tour, XH558's most ambitious ever, is being planned for Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th October.

PS It could get cancelled due to Police concerns over crowds!

Haz 12:45 - Money yo!

Costs too much to keep it flying, also the parts are getting harder to get.

Unbelievable Defjam! You'd think this country would have a bit of pride and keep this flying.

And don't get me started on Concorde!

Agree haz.. And what they done in the Falklands was both mad and amazing.. Totally surprised the argies and the rest of the world.. Even though just one bomb hit the runaway at Stanley!

Why, what do you mean about concord?? ;-)

I agree, the money they waste on shit and this is history, the amount of people that come out to see it is amazing.
Things like this bring people together.

It flew over my home about 3 weeks ago. I didn't realise that it was the last one flying.

Went to Dunsfold and Old Sarum with V to see this - cancelled both times, once for weather and once for a faulty fuel guage.

I tried, I really tried, but the Vulcan can fuck off as it couldnt be bothered

Vulcan is an iconic plane but why no Valiants or Victors?

All our V bombers were important in the days when they were used as our Nuclear deterent

Saw it yesterday as it flew over a Bedfordshire village. It flew over my brothers house twice we had no idea it was part of the route. It was by total chance that we saw it. What an awesome piece of machinery. No way does it look out of date. Got some great pics of it too.

Just a read a book about the V Force. Frightening stuff. At least when they bombed that Argie held airfield in the Falklands conflict, they knew that they were coming back to a country that hadn't been nucked.
